The Minnesota Republican Party held a news conference to blast Hillary Clinton on the day she will appear here for a private fundraiser.

Clinton, the frontrunner for the Democratic nomination for president, will be at a fundraiser at the home of Ellen Goldberg Luger, who is married to U.S. Attorney Andy Luger. The event is being hosted by Carol and Lou Frillman, who is president of Marquette Advisors.

Clinton will not face the press during her visit or do any public events.

"HIllary Clinton is shady and out of touch with average Americans," said Keith Downey, chairman of the state party. Republicans criticized Clinton for coming here for a private fundraiser without doing public or press events; they said they would encourage their own presidential candidates to mingle with voters and media on their visits.

Clinton recently kicked off her campaign with an event in New York City in which she called for "real and lasting prosperity...built by all and shared by all." Read a Star Tribune story about it here.
