The body of a missing Buffalo Lake, Minn., man was found in a water-swollen drainage ditch Saturday, two days after his car was discovered submerged a mile upstream, authorities said Sunday.

Adam M. Rein, 24, was last seen leaving an establishment in nearby Hector at 11 p.m. on Tuesday and was reported missing two days later.

On Thursday evening, Rein's car was found completely underwater in a ditch in Hector Township, according to the Renville County Sheriff's office. The water level in the ditch was higher than normal due to recent rains.

The car appeared to have been traveling on 800th Avenue — west of County Road 22 — when it veered into the ditch. The vehicle was unoccupied when it was pulled from the water, though law enforcement concluded it was Rein's.

His body was found around noon Saturday after about two days of searching by the sheriff's personnel and officers from Buffalo Lake and Hector. The state Department of Natural Resources aided in the search using a boat and a drone.
