WASHINGTON -- The Minnesota GOP polished off its debt this week to the Federal Election Commission, records show.
The Minnesota Republican Party was hit with $26,000 in fines earlier this year because officials failed to disclose nearly $250,000 in receipts, payments and debts from 2009 to 2011.
Records show officials have made four payments, $9,000, $4,500, $8,000, and this $4,500 paid this week, to level off the debt.
This year's penalty was the second large fine levied on the state party in four years. In 2011, the FEC fined the party $170,000 for misrepresenting its debts during the same period.
