Minnesota is starting to get a bit of presidential campaign attention.
Second Lady Jill Biden is returning to Minnesota on this week, according to the Obama campaign, and Republican vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan fund-raised in Minneapolis last weekend.
Biden will "deliver remarks at a canvass kick-off event in Minneapolis and a canvass thank-you event in Duluth, Minnesota," Saturday, the Obama campaign said. She will also attend an evening fundraiser in Minneapolis Friday with donors spending $100-$1,000 per person.
Meanwhile, NBC News reporter Chuck Todd tweeted that the Obama campaign had added Minnesota to its national radio ad program. That's almost more presidential paid media than the state has seen -- none of the four Twin Cities network stations have reported any ad buys from either the Obama or Romney campaigns, although there have been some outstate ads targeted at nearby swing states.
So far, all public polls have shown Obama with a significant lead in Minnesota.
But the latest private poll, completed for American Future Fund, early this month found President Barack Obama with only a four percentage point advantage over Mitt Romney. That would put Obama's lead within the poll's margin of error. American Future Fund has spent millions opposing Democrats and supporting Republicans, including ads on Minnesota television stations.
