Gov. Mark Dayton is ordering flags lowered at state and federal buildings to honor victims of the Wisconsin Sikh temple shooting.
Dayton's proclamation orders all flags lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset Friday.
The proclamation says "a terrible act of violence was committed against innocent men and women," and the victims and their families deserve "our honor, respect and remembrance."
A gunman killed six worshipers on Sunday at the Sikh temple in Oak Creek, Wis. he then then killed himself after a shootout with police.
The Sikh Society of Minnesota plans to hold a candlelight vigil Friday evening to honor those who were slain.
Members of the Gurdwara Sahib Sikh temple in Bloomington are hosting the 7:30 p.m. event to commemorate the six people killed and those injured during the shooting at a Sikh temple in suburban Milwaukee.
Manjeet Singh, a spokesman for the Sikh Society, said Minnesota's small Sikh community views what happened in Wisconsin as an "isolated incident and probably a hate crime."
