Detroit Lakes area: Early morning and late evening appear to be the best times to catch walleyes on area lakes, using Lindy Rigs with minnows, leeches or nightcrawlers at 18-26 feet. Northerns have been active along deep weed lines, hitting sucker minnows, crankbaits or spinners. Smallmouth bass have been biting on White Earth, Lida and Cormorant lakes on deeper structure just off rocks, on gravel or on hard sand off deeper weed lines. Big Detroit and Pelican lakes have produced good muskie action, on baits cast over cabbage.

Grand Rapids area: Those trying to catch walleyes are working cabbage flats or weed lines with spinner baits and minnows on such lakes as Sugar and Trout. Anglers are trolling along deeper weed lines with spoons or crankbaits or over the top of weeds for northerns. Bass and crappies have been active on most area lakes.

Hackensack area: Walleye action has been decent on night crawlers or redtail chubs in or around cabbage or coontail weeds or along deep humps. For bass and northerns, anglers are working shallow weed flats or deeper weed lines with crankbaits and spinner baits. Muskies are taking bucktails or spinner baits on weed lines or rock piles.

Lake Minnetonka: Walleyes are being caught on night crawlers or fathead minnows near weed lines at deeper depths on bigger bays and shallower depths on smaller bays. Bass are taking topwater baits on smaller bays during evening at about 20 feet. Northerns are hitting sucker minnows along weed lines.

Lake Vermilion: Walleye action has been scattered, but anglers are catching some on the west side, near the Wolf Bay and Niles Bay area, using night crawlers at 15-18 feet. Bass action has been excellent on crankbaits or plastic baits along rock piles. For good crappie action, anglers are using a slip bobber or a jig with a minnow at 7-15 feet.

Lake of the Woods: Anglers are catching walleyes and sauger near reefs around Garden and Little Oak islands and the Long Point area. Anchoring and jigging around the Lighthouse Gap has also produced walleyes and sauger. Anglers are drifting mud flats on the north side of the lake using spinners.
