Minnesota COVID-19 pandemic timeline

March 15: Gov. Tim Walz orders a temporary eight-day closure of K-12 public schools across the state, starting March 18.

March 16: Walz orders bars, restaurants to close to dine-in customers, along with other public spaces such as theaters, museums, fitness centers and community clubs.

March 19: Walz orders all health care providers to postpone elective surgeries and procedures.

March 25: Walz issues order asking Minnesotans to stay home unless absolutely necessary, for at least 2 weeks, beginning at midnight Friday. Schools are ordered closed until May 4.
