MINNEAPOLIS — Some of Minnesota's Christian faith leaders are calling for compassionate immigration reform.

The leaders plan to release a joint statement at a news conference Wednesday on the plaza of the U.S. Courthouse in downtown Minneapolis.

They plan to urge Minnesota's congressional members to pass immigration reform that creates a pathway to citizenship for immigrants living in the U.S. illegally.

The U.S. Senate is heading toward approval of an immigration bill by week's end.
