The Minnesota Department of Corrections is investigating the death of an inmate at its Faribault prison.
Jason Nyberg, 36, was pronounced dead about 4 p.m. on Saturday. Sentenced on a drug conviction, he entered Faribault on Sept. 23, 2014, and was expected to be released on Feb. 19, 2020.
Correctional officials said no additional information would be released during the investigation. The Faribault prison is a medium-security facility with two minimum-security units and houses about 2,000 men. It’s the largest facility in the state’s correctional system.
