A segment of East Minnehaha Pkwy. will be closed for three weeks starting Monday as road resurfacing project get underway.

The parkway will be closed from Cedar Avenue and 28th Avenue S.

During the closure, eastbound traffic will be detoured onto northbound Cedar Avenue. Westbound traffic will be detoured onto northbound 28th Avenue. All east-west traffic will use E. 42nd Street as the alternative to the parkway during the closure.

Minneapolis Park and Recreation officials say that access to the Nokomis Recreation Center will be maintained as much as possible during the project. Access will be from either 28th Avenue or Cedar Avenue.

For residents and businesses between 27th Avenue, Woodlawn Blvd., and 28th Avenue S., local north-south access will be available at 27th Ave. S. and Woodlawn Blvd.

Bike paths will be open adjacent to the parkway. For safety's sake, officials are recommending that anybody crossing the parkway do so at 27th Ave S/Woodlawn Blvd or at Cedar Avenue.

More information is available on the project web site.
