Minneapolis team leads USBC Open

The Linds Lakers 1 team from Minneapolis took over the top spot in the Team All-Events competition at the U.S. Bowling Congress Open Championships on Thursday in Reno, Nev.

Sam Lantto, John Eiss, Luke Voaklander, Todd Savoy and Gary Green averaged more than 226 in doubles and singles to help Linds Lakers to a total of 10,187, eighth-best in tournament history. Lantto led Linds Lakers with a 2,174 all-events total.

Matt McNiel of Chanhassen leads the all-events field with a record total of 2,326.

Etc. • The Gophers women's tennis team's season ended with a 4-0 loss to Wisconsin in the first round of the Big Ten tournament in Iowa City. Alessandra Ferrazzi of the Gophers was named to the all-Big Ten team.

• Gophers men's tennis player Sebastian Gallego was named to the all-Big Ten team and Tobias Wernet of the Gophers was named to the conference's all-sportsmanship team.
