Now that the state has pulled the plug on electrical permits, Minneapolis quickly jumped into electrical inspections to prevent building projects from stalling.

This morning, the City Council adopted an ordinance that gives the city the authority to inspect and approve electrical work in building projects. The ordinance was introduced and adopted in minutes.

The ordinance sunsets as soon as the state budget is adopted and the Department of Labor and Industry can resume its electrical permitting program.
