Rain or shine, the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board will begin opening 65 wading pools Saturday.

Phase I

Pools in many parks will be open from Saturday through Labor Day, Sept. 2.

Phase 2

Wading pools in parks next to public schools will open Wednesday, the day students are released for the summer. They will remain open through Aug. 25, the day before students return for the 2013-14 school year.

But wait

Eight pools originally scheduled to open Saturday will open later because of weather-delayed maintenance. They are: Corcoran, Dickman, East Phillips, Franklin, Marshall Terrace, Folwell, Lake Hiawatha and Phelps.

The rules

Wading pools are open daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and are free to use. Wading pools have no lifeguards on duty, so parents and children are advised to keep safety in mind. For a complete listing of wading pools and locations, visit www.minneapolisparks.org.
