A Minneapolis man died Thursday night, more than six months after he was shot and paralyzed.
Police are now investigating the death as a slaying.
Larry Jermaine Jones, 41, was identified by the Hennepin County medical examiner on Saturday as the victim of a Nov. 4 shooting between 21st Avenue N. and Irving Avenue N. in Minneapolis.
Police suspect the shooting may have been drug related, a police spokesman said Saturday.
Police had been called to North Memorial Medical Center on Nov. 4 about 8:45 p.m. regarding a report of a person who had been shot.
An investigation found the shooting occurred in the 2000 block of Irving Avenue N. Jones was a passenger in a car when he was shot, said John Elder, a Minneapolis police spokesman.
Jones was paralyzed and has been living at a Minneapolis nursing facility since. The medical examiner, ruling the death a homicide, said he died as a result of complications from a gunshot wound in the back. The complications occurred elsewhere in his body as a result of the wound, authorities said.
No suspects have been identified, Elder said.
