Minneapolis man critically hurt in shooting Tuesday dies at hospital

A Minneapolis man critically hurt in a shooting Tuesday has died, the Hennepin County medical examiner's office said.

Cortney Elvester Woods, 22, died Wednesday night at North Memorial Medical Center of a gunshot wound to the head, the office said Saturday.

Woods' address was listed as being on the 3900 block of Emerson Avenue N., the block where he was shot.

Officers went there just after 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday after a report of shots being fired, where they found Woods.

The shooter fled, and no one was in custody immediately after the shooting. Authorities had said they believe the two knew each other.
