Police arrested a man they say shot another man in the face early Thursday morning in what was described as a dispute between two roommates in a northeast Minneapolis home.

The suspected shooter was later booked into Hennepin County jail on suspicion of assault and was being held without bail Thursday afternoon. An initial court date has not yet been set.

The Star Tribune generally doesn't name people who haven't been charged with a crime.

The man's 39-year-old roommate was taken by ambulance to Hennepin County Medical Center after being shot in the face, according to an incident report. His condition was not immediately known.

The suspect, 41, was also briefly hospitalized, complaining of head pain, the report said.

Police did not say what prompted the shooting, which occurred sometime between 3:30 a.m. and 4 a.m. Thursday at a house in the 2500 block of Hayes Street.
