Minneapolis Architectural Preservation Awards Announced

Nine Heritage Preservation Award winners include 5 buildings, a sunroom, a fence, a neighborhood association, and a guy

Jim Litsheim, a senior architect at the University of Minnesota, has been given the Steve Murray Award for his deciation to architectural preservation in Minneapolis and at the University.

Litsheim's award is among nine 2011 Minneapolis Heritage Preservation Awards announced this week by Preserve Minneapolis, the Minneapolis Heritage Preservation Commission and the Minneapolis Chapter of the American Institute of Architects.

Other awards, all in Minneapolis, went to

Fence restoration, Phase 1 at Pioneers and Soldiers Memorial Cemetery (2945 Cedar Av. S.)

Sunroom restoration (2720 Ewing Av. S.)

Pence Automobile building (800 Hennepin Av.)

Hangar, Ackerman Hall (110 Union St. S.E.)

Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church (1 Lourdes Place)

Gale Mansion addition (2115 Stevens Av. S.)

Old Highland Neighborhood Association (for documentation of 96 properties)

A Whittier neighborhood home (2008 Pillsbury Av. S.)
