ROCHESTER, Minn. — Two weeks after receiving a second heard transplant, a Mankato woman has been released from the hospital.

KTTC-TV reports (http://bit.ly/16z8hLo ) that 23-year-old Alyssa Sandeen was transferred to the Gift of Life Transplant House on Thursday night after being hospitalized since November at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester.

She had her first heart transplant when she was just 8 years old. She was diagnosed as a young girl with cardiomyopathy, a weakening of the heart muscle. But that organ eventually began to fail, and she underwent her second heart transplant late last month. She also underwent a kidney transplant from her mother in 2010 after her anti-rejection medication weakened her own kidneys.

Many people across the world have been following Sandeen's story on her Facebook page, and on her CaringBridge page.
