The Senate Commerce Committee passed a bill that would allow liquor stores to be open on Sundays.

The bill, which passed 7-4, will now move to the Senate floor, where its future is less certain.

The committee vote caps a big week for advocates of allowing Sunday sales, which have been banned since statehood. The ban stayed in place after Prohibition ended.

The House passed an end to the ban earlier in the week by a 85-45.

Gov. Mark Dayton has said he would not veto a bill if it comes to his desk.
