ST. PAUL, Minn. — Phil Krinkie says he will leave his post as president of the Minnesota Taxpayers League because of his newly announced run for Congress. But the Republican hasn't decided if he'll stay on as a Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system trustee.
Krinkie, a former state representative, announced last week that he is joining the race for the congressional seat being vacated by Republican Rep. Michele Bachmann. Krinkie said Monday he was stepping down from the Taxpayers League after leading the anti-tax group since 2007.
He says he wants to have a discussion with the chairman of the MnSCU board before deciding if he'll remain a trustee for the public college system.
Krinkie is among four Republicans in the 6th Congressional District race. So far one Democrat is running.
