BOWMANVILLE, Ontario — Mike Conway took the LMP2 class pole Saturday for the American Le Mans Series' event Sunday at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.

Conway, the English driver who won IndyCar's Detroit doubleheader opener June 1, is replacing the injured Ryan Briscoe in the Level 5 Motorsport entry co-driven by team owner Scott Tucker. Briscoe fractured his wrist last weekend in IndyCar's doubleheader opener in Toronto.

Conway had a fast lap of 1 minute, 8.785 seconds — an average of 128.697 mph — in the HPD-ARX-03b prototype on the 2.459-mile road course. He will start fourth overall in the field of 32 cars.

"I wanted to do more laps to be honest," Conway said. "I thought we could have been ever quicker to be honest."

Klaus Graf of Muscle Milk Racing won the P1 class pole with a lap of 1:05.871 at 134.390 mph in the No. 6 HPD-ARX-03c.
