Thunderstorms will target the nation's midsection at the middle of the week.Thunderstorms will erupt in a corridor from Chicago through Omaha, Neb.,southward to Cincinnati, Ohio, Nashville and Memphis, Tenn. Torrential rain andeven hail will fall with some of these storms.

Showers with scattered thunderstorms will also dampen Minneapolis and the upperMississippi Valley.

Farther east, high pressure over Ontario will afford sunshine over themid-Atlantic, where temperatures will be near normal for mid-June. At the sametime, a few showers will dampen northern New England.

Sweltering heat reaching 90s to about 100 degrees will span the southern tierof states. In the Southeast, a few thunderstorms will pop up from Florida tothe Carolinas.

In the West, dry weather will dominate. Blazing sunshine will heat Phoenix,Tucson and Las Vegas, with highs of at least 100 degrees. At the same time,onshore winds and morning clouds will cool coastal California.

Scattered thunderstorms will dot the Intermountain West, mainly in the north. Afew showers will dot western Washington.
