August 3, 2009 at 11:25PM

A gap between outbreaks of rain and thunderstorms will last through Tuesdayin the East. This break in the weather will allow for normal- to above-normalmidsummer warmth throughout the mid-Atlantic and New England.Temperatures will top out in the lower to middle 80s over northern New Yorkto northern New England. Readings to near 90 degrees will be reached as farnorth as greater New York City with 90-95 degrees slated for highs betweenPhiladelphia and Washington, D.C.

Sticky humidity will be a factor for comfort northward to at leastsoutheastern New York and southern New England.

For anyone looking to "cool it", south-facing shores will stay somewhatcooler thanks to a wind off the sea.
