Two for tweeting? Several NHLers have gone after Pittsburgh's Matt Cooke since his head shot on the Rangers' Ryan McDonagh, including Edmonton's Ryan Whitney, who wrote on his Twitter account, "Nice to see the NHL come through with that suspension. Enough is enough with that guy."

When a few followers ripped into Whitney, the defenseman retorted, "And for everyone tweeting me that I'm not tough, and a Band-Aid and a suitcase, maybe you're right but I do have respect for my peers."

Bubble boy Detroit goalie Jimmy Howard might be tied for the league lead with 34 victories, but he ranks 28th in save percentage and 32nd in goals-against average. His critics freaked when he was yanked last week against Pittsburgh.

"I don't read the newspaper, I don't read the Internet, I try not to listen to the [sports] radio station, I don't listen to any of it," said Howard. "You don't want things creeping into your mind that aren't there. You just have to live in your own little bubble."

Perry is a mighty Duck Ducks coach Randy Carlyle said he believes Corey Perry, who has scored a career-high 42 goals and 83 points, should get Hart Trophy consideration.

"He's a guy that you can ask for more. He has more," Carlyle said. "And he feels that responsibility that he can provide more and that's really the sign of a true elite level player."

Big numbers Calgary's Jarome Iginla is at 992 points and San Jose's Joe Thornton is at 994 in a race to reach 1,000. "It is mind-boggling -- I don't think I've had 1,000 shifts," quipped San Jose's Scott Nichol.
