Four people were injured when a Metro Transit bus struck a parked car and a tree in south Minneapolis on Thursday afternoon.

The driver and three passengers were taken to Hennepin County Medical Center after the southbound Route 5 bus left the road and crashed about 5 p.m. in the 3200 block of Chicago Avenue S., Metro Transit spokesman John Siqveland said.

He said that two passengers complained of neck injuries and one of a back injury and that the driver had cuts to his hands.

Metro Transit investigators were working to determine what caused the accident.

Siqveland said the driver was removed from service to undergo drug and alcohol testing, which he described as standard procedure in such incidents.
