Metallica fans took only 10 minutes on Friday to grab every ticket for the Aug. 20 show at U.S. Bank Stadium.
The show is the metal kings' only announced concert date in 2016 after several years on hiatus.
Tickets sold for $49.50 to $149.50. The field for the thrash metal concert is general admission (no seats).
The band's performance will be the first rock show in the new stadium that is opening in August for events. The first concert at the stadium will be the night before Metallica's, when country star Luke Bryan steps up to the mic.
Avenged Sevenfold, one of the top metal bands of recent years, will open for Metallica along with Volbeat.
Metallica was last in town at Target Center in 2009.
Concert promoter SMG said about 50,000 tickets were available for the show. Some Luke Bryan tickets remain available.
The $1.1 billion U.S. Bank Stadium is expected to open in July for two days of free public tours. The stadium is the new home of the Minnesota Vikings.
