The much-talked about diva Anna Netrebko is singing the lead in Donizetti's "Anna Bolena" at the Met in New York, and the opera will be simulcast in movie theaters in the Twin Cities and elsewhere on Saturday, Oct. 15.

The 213-minute show will be beamed live in HD video to a dozen Twin Cities theaters (and in Mankato and Duluth) at 11:55 a.m. on Sat. Oct. 15. Go here for a list of participating moviehouses.

Get a taste of soprano Netrebko's singing in a video here that shows her in a mad scene. I love the SCORES of costumed bystanders and lookers-on, and that "mad" thing she does with her long hair at the end. Then there's her powerful soprano, of course.

Netrebko, who just turned 40, appeared to open the Met's season in an opera never before performed there. The New York Times recently profiled her, and had this review of the opera.
