Favre's Career

Career log: Favre was drafted by Atlanta (second round, 33rd overall) in 1991. His first NFL pass — he only threw four total for the Falcons — was returned for an interception. He was traded to Green Bay in 1992 for a first-round pick. He played with the Packers for 16 seasons before stints with the Jets (2008) and the Vikings (2009-10).

Honors: Three-time NFL MVP (1995-97). Selected for 11 Pro Bowls.

NFL history: When Favre retired in 2011, he held NFL regular-season records for pass attempts, completions, yards, touchdown passes, interceptions, times sacked and fumbles. He also had NFL playoff records for attempts, completions and yards.

With the Vikings: Favre had a 107.2 passer rating as the Vikings advanced to the NFC title game after the 2009 season. He threw 33 TD passes.

FIVE MEMORABLE MOMENTS

1 Favre passed for two touchdowns and ran for another as the Packers beat the Patriots 35-21 to win Super Bowl XXXI on Jan. 26, 1997.

2 A day after the death of his father, Favre threw four touchdown passes in the first half in the Packers' 41-7 Monday night victory in Oakland in 2003.

3 Favre broke the NFL record with his 421st TD pass, to Greg Jennings, in a 23-16 Packers win over the Vikings at the Metrodome in 2007.

4 A month after beating the Packers at the Metrodome, Favre returned to Lambeau Field for the first time wearing purple and threw four touchdown passes in a 38-26 victory on Nov. 1, 2009.

5 In 1992, his first season with the Packers, Favre came off the bench in Game 3 to throw a touchdown pass with 13 seconds remaining in a 24-23 win over Cincinnati. The rest is history.
