Told you Aarthi Belani would be at Chelsea Clinton's New York wedding to Marc Mezvinsky.
Clinton came to Minnesota in May 2006 for the elaborate traditional Hindu wedding of Drs. Kumar and Kiran Belani's daughter. Their friendship, which goes back to Stanford, befits the touching photo I somehow obtained of Chelsea tenderly holding Aarthi's face at her wedding.
Confirmation of Aarthi's presence at the Rhinebeck, N.Y., wedding of the year came from a wedding program obtained by the Poughkeepsie Journal. Staffer Sarah Bradshaw -- thank you! -- helped me navigate the website Monday to take a look at it. Thought my instincts for human relations had failed when Aarthi's name was not among the 12 "bridesmaids." Finally my patience was rewarded -- BAM! -- in the "readers" section. It's a little confusing but it looks as though Aarthi was among readers of the customary seven Jewish blessings.
An e-mailer unknown to me, who seemed to be a pretty huge Aarthi fan, sent some unhappy news regarding Aarthi's marriage to Anil Soni the last time I referenced them. Aarthi did not respond to the voice mail I left at her law office Monday.
No-brainer no-showsNow a complaint about how OFF the media were in predicting which celebrities would be at the nuptials.
President Obama and Oprah? How about some duh-ductive reasoning instead of being Stuck on Stupid, prognosticators? Whose blood is coursing through Chelsea's veins? The blood of two hard-core politicians, former President Bill and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton. They may appear to have forgiven but they have not forgotten the 2008 primaries, and neither has their progeny.
Oprah? She's a shoo-in if the Obama girls have gigantic weddings.
