A longtime arena headliner, John Mellencamp is scaling back to theaters this fall, including playing Nov. 22-23 at the Orpheum Theatre in Minneapolis.

It's all part of the Rock Hall of Famer's No Better Than This Tour to promote his new album, No Better Than This, produced by T Bone Burnett that's due Aug. 17. The disc was recorded in three historic places in the South: Sun Studio in Memphis, room 414 in San Antonio's Gunter Hotel where Robert Johnson recorded in 1936 and the First African Baptist Church in Savannah, Ga.

The concerts will feature an acoustic portion, a small rockabilly combo section and a full rock band segment. The "opening act" will be a documentary, 'It's About You," made by award-winning photographer/filmmaker Kirk Markus during the 2009 Mellencamp tour with Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson and while Mellecamp was recording "No Better Than This."

Concert tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday.
