With a band name that'll either make you cringe or smirk, Gramma's Boyfriend also boasts an all-star lineup of players that should make it an instantaneous local buzz band. They include: Jeremy Ylvisaker (who fronts Alpha Consumer and plays guitar with Andrew Bird), Haley Bonar, guitarist Jacob Hanson (Halloween, Alaska and sometimes Bonar), drummer Luke Anderson (Rogue Valley) and sax/bassist Mike Lewis (Happy Apple, Bird's band, and currently on tour with Gayngs). The members just put up a Facebook page that describes their sound as "a new kind of '80s throwback pop with an experimental vibe." They already played one gig Wednesday at the Turf Club and have another one 11 p.m. Sunday at Medusa, 1501 6th St., Mpls., behind the Bedlam Theater on the West Bank.
