A former beauty queen who died at her Minneapolis home in June perished of natural causes, the Hennepin County medical examiner said Thursday.

Samantha "Sami" M. Edwards, who was 2003 Miss North Dakota-USA, died of complications from a heart condition, authorities said. Police found the 37-year-old woman deceased inside her home in the 1700 block of Upton Avenue N. on the morning of June 14.

A GoFundMe page started in her honor raised more than $20,000 for funeral expenses.
