The NFL announced that Vikings left tackle Bryant McKinnie must forfeit his $22,500 Pro Bowl game check and reimburse the league $4,285.13 for expenses after he was dismissed from the event last month.
McKinnie skipped practices and even the team picture the week of the Pro Bowl. He later claimed he was trying to pull out of the event because of injuries, but that only came after the league had dismissed him from the game.
McKinnie didn't earn any sympathy votes after spending much of that week tweeting about his late-night partying, which our colleague Mark Craig wrote about in this story.
The league said the Competition Committee also will review the matter "to determine whether additional steps should be taken to deter this type of conduct at the Pro Bowl in the future."
