McFadden hires new campaign manager for Senate bid

Republican U.S. Senate candidate Mike McFadden has hired a new campaign manager, the campaign said late Wednesday.

Carl Kuhl, a long time Minnesota Republican operative, will replace Brad Herold, who will continue to advise McFadden.

Kuhl worked with former U.S. Sen. Norm Coleman, St. Paul Mayor Randy Kelly, Republican Tom Emmer's 2010 gubernatorial campaign and the campaign to legalize same-sex marriage in Minnesota. "Our plan has always been to retool the campaign after becoming our party's nominee," McFadden spokesman Tom Erickson said earlier this week.

McFadden, who faces an August primary, is hoping to oust Democratic U.S. Sen. Al Franken in the fall. "Carl has worked on the highest-profile races in Minnesota and has the experience and vision we need to help us win this important election for Minnesota and the country," McFadden said.
