Matt Kalil had labrum tear repaired in right hip, Vikings report
Matt Kalil was placed on injured reserve Wednesday after playing through the injury for two games after he hobbled off the practice field in August.
Left tackle Matt Kalil needed a labrum tear in his right hip repaired, the team announced Friday. The operation was done by team physician Chris Larson, who also repaired Adrian Peterson's torn meniscus on Thursday, at Twin Cities Orthopedics.
Kalil was placed on injured reserve Wednesday after playing through the injury for two games after he hobbled off the practice field in August. It's the first time he's landed on IR despite playing through a wide range of injuries, including chronic knee problems, through his five-year NFL career. He's started all 68 games at left tackle since the Vikings drafted him fourth overall in 2012.
Defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd underwent his second knee surgery in a year, this time a scope to ease a cartilage issue in his right knee, according to head coach Mike Zimmer. Floyd's arthroscopic surgery was performed by Dr. James Andrews in Florida, the team announced.
Floyd missed most of four games last season following an October operation to remove cartilage from his left knee.
Mike Conley was in Minneapolis, where he sounded the Gjallarhorn at the Vikings game, on Sunday during the robbery.
