Mathew Janczewski stages mini dance fest

Mathew Janczewski has been trying to make the transition from dancer-choreographer to choreographer for, what, seven years now. "Picturing That Day" is a piece from 2016 that illustrates Janczewski's struggles with leaving the stage. He pairs the piece with works by Minneapolis-based SuperGroup and his mentor, Oregon's Robin Stiehm, for his "Candy Box" mini dance festival. Designed to help local dance artists bring their work to fruition, the "Candy Box" mix also includes happy hour performances of works in progress by other Twin Cities choreographers. (7 & 8:30 p.m. Fri., Sat., Tue., Wed. & Thu., 2 & 3:30 p.m. Sat. & Sun., through May 6, Southern Theater, 1420 Washington Av. S., Mpls.; $20-$24, 612-326-1811, southerntheater.org.)

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
