Maple sugaring programs are in season at Minnesota parks

Programs to consider at Minnesota state and regional parks.

Maples at center

Whitewater State Park

10-11:30 a.m. or 1-2:30 p.m. Saturday

• Celebrate spring in the park's sugar bush. Learn about the history and process of maple syrup production. Call 1-507-312-2308 to register. (mndnr.gov)

Wild River State Park

11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday or Sunday

• A vehicle is needed to get to the location. Call 651-583-2125, ext. 227, to register. (mndnr.gov)

Eastman Nature Center

1-4 p.m. Sunday

• Drop in anytime. This program is free and open to all ages. (763-694-7700, threeriversparks.org)

Lowry Nature Center

12:30-2:30 p.m. Sunday

• A hike for women to see if sap is running from the maple trees. Warm up by a fire and taste homemade maple sugar.

Cost is $5. Program is for ages 18 and older.

Turkey primer

Baker Near-Wilderness Settlement

6-9 p.m. Monday

• Explore turkey biology, and get into their behavior during hunting season and techniques to bag them. Led by certified instructors. (763-694-7856, threeriversparks.org)
