A onetime assistant track coach for Maple Grove High School molested a 13-year-old female athlete after practice and threatened to assault her friends if she revealed anything about the encounter, according to charges.
Other students told authorities that the coach and substitute teacher, Todd J. McIntyre, 46, engaged in "inappropriate touching and behavior," the criminal complaint said.
McIntyre, of Plymouth, was charged in Hennepin County District Court on Tuesday with second-degree criminal sexual conduct. He was arrested Tuesday and released pending a court hearing Dec. 16.
Barb Olson, spokeswoman for the Osseo-Maple Grove School District, said McIntyre was dismissed as coach and districtwide substitute teacher in May after three months.
McIntyre's attorney, Eric Newmark, said Thursday that neither he nor his client will comment about the allegations.
According to the complaint:
The girl told authorities in August that she remained behind after track practice at the high school stadium one day in late March to tell the coaching staff that she would be missing practice the following week for spring break.
As she was leaving, McIntyre approached and grabbed the girl's hands as she rubbed them to keep warm. He then pulled her to his body and molested her, she said.
