Many happy returns

A few favorite items reappear on shelves

Some folks find Mr. Tidbit's supermarket coverage far too gloomy: "This new item is overpriced!" "That one is overpackaged!" "This one is just stupid!" Today Mr. Tidbit hopes he will have those naysayers, who complain about his naysaying, singing a different tune. And that tune will be "Welcome Back." Sort of.

Maid to order

Some years ago, Mr. Tidbit noted the debut of Ritz Bits Sandwiches Graham Cracker S'mores: two tiny round graham crackers filled with side-by-side blobs of chocolate and marshmallow frosting. Mr. Tidbit was unsure what made them Ritzes: possibly that the miniature graham crackers were round.

Some folks loved them, so (of course) they were discontinued. There is (of course) a Facebook group called "Bring Back Ritz Bits Sandwiches: S'mores!"

Well, if those folks are willing to walk a couple of feet from the Ritz crackers to the Honey Maid graham crackers, they should be very happy: What appears to be the very same (round) product has resurfaced as Honey Maid Mini S'mores Graham Cracker Sandwiches.

Moments ago

In 2008 Mr. Tidbit noted the arrival of Pillsbury's Sweet Moments: little single-serve tubs of refrigerated ready-to-microwave cake-type goodies, two in a box. He chuckled that, compared with Betty Crocker Warm Delights, they saved intolerable preparation tedium by not requiring the stirring in of water. Then he tasted the molten-cake version of each and found that (because the ingredients were rather different), Sweet Moments were much richer than Warm Delights. Then (of course) they were discontinued.

But a not-quite-as-rich version of Sweet Moments, Molten Lava Brownies, is back, in light blue boxes in the refrigerated case.

Another moment

Do you love Sara Lee Triple Chocolate Brownie Bites, the little frozen cubes of brownie coated with chocolate? Well (of course), they're gone. Sorry. Mr. Tidbit hadn't tasted a Brownie Bite in a while, but he'd guess that Pillsbury's new Sweet Moments chocolate-coated bite-size brownies (in bags in the refrigerated case) are close to the same thing. Except that they're ready to eat without thawing.
