A Minnesota man with five DWI convictions crashed the car he was driving, left an injured passenger behind and broke into a nearby house to evade police, police say.

Investigators said Caske Owen, 23, of Fish Lake Township, likely had been traveling at a high rate of speed about 5 a.m. Friday when his car went off the road. The vehicle flipped several times end-over-end before landing about 2 feet from a home on Rush Point Drive in Rush City. No one was home at the time.

Parts of the mangled car were driven into the side of the house, according to Capt. Keith Hoppe with the Chisago County Sheriff's Office.

Owen was ejected from the vehicle and apparently crawled away, Hoppe said. The injured passenger, who had a seat belt on, was still in the vehicle when deputies arrived.

A K-9 search team found Owen inside the house with a head injury. He was flown by air ambulance to North Memorial Medical Center, where he's listed in stable condition. The passenger was flown to Regions Hospital.

Drinking may have contributed to the cause of the crash and investigators are awaiting results of a blood test, Hoppe said. Owen's car was equipped with an ignition interlock device.
