Man who was fatally struck by train in Coon Rapids is identified

Bruce J. Pritchett, 31, died from injuries suffered when the BNSF train hit him Sunday afternoon.

Authorities on Tuesday identified the man who was fatally struck by a freight train in Coon Rapids.

Bruce J. Pritchett, 31, died from injuries suffered when the BNSF train hit him Sunday afternoon about a quarter-mile northwest of Hanson Boulevard, according to the Midwest medical examiner's office.

Pritchett, of Coon Rapids, was not at a designated crossing when struck by the westbound train, said Amy McBeth, spokeswoman for BNSF.
