Man walks out on Hwy. 10, is struck by pickup truck and killed

A man who walked out onto Hwy. 10 in Benton County was struck by a pickup truck Friday night and killed, the State Patrol said.

The crash happened about 7:25 p.m. near where Hwy. 10 intersects with Hwy. 23. The truck was heading north on Hwy. 10 when the man came out into the left lane of Hwy. 10 and was struck, the patrol said.

The man was from St. Cloud and 55 years old, according to the patrol. His name was to be released Saturday morning. No details were available about why he was on the road.

Driver Sabrina Rasmussen, 27, of Montrose, Minn., and passenger Paul C. Mitchell, 28, also of Montrose, appeared to be unhurt. They were wearing seat belts and their air bags deployed, according to the patrol.
