Man struck and killed by train in Big Lake

A train struck and fatally injured a pedestrian in Big Lake Wednesday night, Burlington Northern Santa Fe officials confirmed.

The man was walking near Highway 25 and Lake Street around 6:10 p.m. when he was hit, BNSF spokeswoman Amy McBeth said.

Train traffic was halted, but has resumed, she added.

Big Lake police and BNSF officials are investigating.
