The body of a 51-year-old man, an apparent drowning victim, was pulled Friday afternoon from a lake near Babbitt, in northeastern Minnesota.
According to the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office, deputies received a report of a water emergency on Birch Lake near Sand Island at about 12:45 p.m. Friday. A man had fallen out of a small boat near a houseboat where he was staying and disappeared. His body was later recovered by a dive team.
The victim's identity is being withheld until his relatives can be notified, authorities said. He was not wearing a life jacket.
