Man's body found in Mississippi River

A man's body was found Sunday afternoon floating in the Mississippi River, the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office said.

Officials from the Minneapolis Police Department spotted the body in the Mississippi River south of the Lowry Avenue bridge at 2:20 p.m.

At 4:06 p.m., the Sheriff's Office water patrol recovered the body with help from the Minneapolis Fire Department.

The Sheriff's Office is investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery, including the cause of death and the man's identity.
