June 12, 2011 at 3:18AM

A man's body was recovered Saturday morning by Minneapolis firefighters on a Mississippi River bank in Minnehaha Park.

The body of a white male was found about 8 a.m. at the base of a cliff, south of where Minnehaha Creek enters the river, said Dawn Sommers, spokeswoman for the park police. The man's identity was unknown, she said. He was believed to be in his mid-40s to mid-50s.

The death appears to be accidental, but the cause of death will be determined by the Hennepin County medical examiner.
