A man pulled unconscious from his burning home near the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul two weeks ago has died, authorities said Tuesday.

Shane Klein, 49, died Friday at Hennepin County Medical Center from inhaling carbon monoxide during the blaze at his house in the 2100 block of Dayton Avenue on Oct. 4, according to the Hennepin County medical examiner's office.

Firefighters pulled Klein from his bedroom, where a pile of clothing was burning, fire officials said.

The medical examiner's office determined his death was an accident.

The house had working smoke detectors but no sprinklers, according to authorities.
