A man was killed and two other people sustained serious injuries in a crash Friday on Interstate 35 just south of Hinckley.
David T. Greiner, 45, of Garfield, Minn., died at the scene, according to the State Patrol. His name was released Saturday. Tabitha S. Sigler, 21, of Cambridge, Minn., and Santino Hilario Chavez, 36, of St. Paul, were taken to hospitals in the Twin Cities with life-threatening injuries.
According to the State Patrol, Sigler and Chavez were in a Mitsubishi Endeavor heading south on Interstate 35 at 4 p.m. when their vehicle crossed the median into the northbound lanes, striking a Kia Sportage driven by Greiner.
It was unknown Sunday whether alcohol was a factor for either Sigler or Chavez. The State Patrol said it was not a factor in Greiner's driving.
The crash backed up freeway traffic until 7:30 p.m., when lanes were reopened.
