Authorities have identified a man shot and killed last week in the North Side's Willard-Hay neighborhood.

Police say that Mark Profit, 18, of Minneapolis, was found mortally wounded about 10:39 p.m. in front of a house on the 1800 block of Newton Avenue N. Profit was pronounced dead of a gunshot wound to the chest, according to authorities.

Police haven't released any additional details about the slaying. No arrests in the case had been made, as of Tuesday afternoon.

An man who was wounded in the same shooting was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

A department spokesman said Tuesday that detectives were "checking on physical evidence at the scene," without commenting on whether authorities have any substantial leads.

A ShotSpotter activation Friday night drew officers to the area, where they found Profit's body in front a residence, as onlookers gathered around, police said.

The following night, MPD Chief Janeé Harteau said that the investigation into the slaying had been hampered by uncooperative witnesses. Harteau spent the better part of the night touring the Fourth and Third precincts, where police say on Friday a man shot and killed his wife and stepdaughter in an apparent domestic incident.

Profit's death was the city's 34th homicide so far this year, surpassing 2014's total mark.
