Man killed in Sherburne County crash identified

December 17, 2008 at 6:52PM

Snow-packed and icy roads are to blame for a fatal crash Sunday in Big Lake Township that left one man dead, said Capt. Joel Brott of the Sherburne County Sheriff's Office.

Jason Patrick Long, 25, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash involving two vehicles around 12:30 p.m. at County Road 79 and 214th Avenue. Witnesses told authorities that Long's vehicle began to spin out of control as he drove south on County Road 79 and entered a curve. Long's vehicle crossed the center line where a northbound vehicle carrying four people collided with his car, Brott said.

The driver of the northbound vehicle was treated for minor injuries at Monticello-Big Lake Hospital. The other three occupants were treated at the scene and released, Brott said.

Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, Brott said.
